I've decided to do a series of blog posts highlighting some of the current things I'm crushing on. I enjoy them so much that I think you all should too! I am in no way endorsed by any company or product I review... just wanted to share some of my favorite things.
Today's favorite thing is one that I just recently stumbled upon. I constantly have the radio in my suburban on KLOVE. It's all I listen to in the car as far as radio stations, and the other day they were talking about this app that sounded so cool I had to check it out.
It's called: Big Church Bingo
The idea is, to take your kid(s) into "big church" with you (as opposed to "kids church" I guess. But we don't have anything like a kids church program at the teensy church we attend out here in the country), and instead of letting them color in color books, pick their nose, kick the seat in front of them, whine and fidget, etc., you hand them your phone (which, if they are anything like my kids are always begging to play games on my phone anyway). THEY think they are getting to play games in church! *gasp* but they joke's on them. Really, they are listening during the sermon for certain words and checking them off as they hear them... thus, PAYING ATTENTION (and being quiet at the same time.)
It costs $1.99 through iTunes but is well worth every penny.
Try not to notice my filthy phone. It's not actually scratched... that's the protective film on top of my phone. Ok, so anyways... for me, with the iPhone 4, I can categorize my apps into folders and in this case, I have the BCB app in a folder labeled "Bible"
You can add as many players as you want. For me, I've got my two littlest rugrats, Audrey and Levi listed. I do have to say though... that it's geared more towards Levi's age (7) or older. Audrey had difficulty reading the words so then I had to help her which kind of defeated the purpose.
Here's an example of what a Bingo board would look like:
And one of the feature I love is that there is a word bank so you can see all of the words that could possibly show up on the Bingo board.... and you can add your own if you think of one that they don't have listed. This comes in handy for different denominations who might use certain words more frequently.
And there you have it.
If you end up getting the app, let me know how you like it! I'd love to know. :)
